At Pomelo, we are dedicated to increasing financial access for immigrants and their families. We have built the first fintech platform that merges global remittances with consumer credit, allowing our customers to build credit history while supporting their loved ones abroad. We are a team of about 45 people based in San Francisco, backed by prominent investors like Keith Rabois and Kevin Hartz. We are currently looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis to help us scale our platform and empower our engineering organization.
Responsibilities
- Act as a mentor and advocate for your team, providing the coaching necessary to help high-performing engineers grow in their careers.
- Lead the technical vision for our platform, overseeing the implementation of complex projects related to transactions, fraud prevention, and risk management.
- Refine our engineering processes and internal tools to ensure we can scale our codebase effectively while maintaining high standards for quality and velocity.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional engineering experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a management or leadership role.
- A proven history of shipping high-quality products and successfully leading technical projects from conception to completion.
- Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment where you have demonstrated the ability to iterate quickly and adapt to changing business needs.
- Familiarity with our core technology stack, which includes Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, AWS, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Rust, React, TypeScript, and Expo.
What we offer
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
- Generous paid time off, starting at 3 weeks in your first year and increasing to 4 weeks thereafter, in addition to national holidays.
- A dedicated learning budget and professional development opportunities to help you master your craft.
- Access to a free gym membership and flexible working hours.
- Regular company retreats to foster team connection and culture.
- The opportunity to work remotely when needed, alongside a talented team of peers from top-tier technology companies.
