SwingDev, a Hippo company, serves as the Polish branch for Hippo Insurance, a rapidly expanding InsurTech organization. Our mission is to modernize home insurance by creating proactive, tech-driven solutions that provide real value to our customers. We pride ourselves on a culture built around people, trust, and empathy. We believe in hiring talented individuals who prefer to inspire one another rather than compete, creating a supportive environment where we can tackle significant projects while still having a good time together.
About the Role
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join us on a full-time basis. In this role, you will take ownership of our Hippo Plus technical team, which functions like a startup within our larger organization. You will be responsible for leading our current team of engineers and spearheading the recruitment and development of a second team in Poland as we scale our operations. This is a remote position where you will provide technical direction and ensure the successful delivery of our strategic engineering initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of senior engineers while managing the end-to-end technical direction and delivery for the Hippo Plus product line.
- Establish effective structures, processes, and engineering best practices to ensure high-quality software development.
- Collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders to translate needs into prioritized engineering roadmaps, balancing new feature development with operational requirements.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong background in software engineering and previous experience leading technical teams, particularly during a product's scaling phase. You should be comfortable working with distributed, remote teams across different time zones and have a proven ability to build and develop individuals. We value a product-minded approach and a focus on customer-centric solutions. Technical proficiency with our stack, including JavaScript, Node.js, and React, is essential. Additionally, you must be fluent in English and possess at least a communicative level of Polish. Please note that you should be available for afternoon meetings to facilitate coordination with our global teams.
Location
This position is based in Poland and is fully remote.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary for this position is 31,000 – 40,000 PLN + VAT on a B2B contract. We offer a comprehensive package of perks to support your well-being and professional growth:
- Remote work and flexible working hours.
- Private medical insurance for you and your family, including dental and orthodontic care.
- Group life insurance and mental wellness support, including free sessions with psychologists.
- Learning and professional development budget, including 50% reimbursement for courses and conferences.
- Paid time off, including personal development days and voluntary days off.
- Additional perks such as a cafeteria platform, concierge services, and nanny services for parents.
