We are Griffin, and we are building a bank for companies that want to launch their own financial products. We believe the future of finance lies in technology companies embedding services directly into their platforms, rather than relying on traditional high street banks. To solve the complexity and slow pace of legacy banking infrastructure, we have created a fully regulated, API-first, and developer-centric platform. We are currently looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hybrid role that can be performed from anywhere, as we value high-trust, autonomous environments where you are the expert on how you do your best work.
Responsibilities
- Lead one or more engineering teams, taking full accountability for their technical health and the successful delivery of their projects.
- Manage team sprints by ensuring development tasks are well-defined, prioritized, and estimated to maintain high output.
- Coach and develop your team members, providing guidance on architectural vision, operational excellence, and long-term career growth.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Proven experience in a senior engineering or technical leadership role, specifically with functional programming languages such as Clojure, Elixir, or Haskell.
- A deep passion for mentorship and a commitment to helping engineers reach their full potential while avoiding burnout.
- Experience working cross-functionally with product and operations teams to achieve shared goals.
- A strong understanding of what constitutes a high-performing engineering team and how to cultivate that environment across different skill sets.
- Familiarity with modern infrastructure and tools, including Kubernetes and AWS.
What we offer
We are an early-stage startup committed to fostering a supportive and flexible environment. Our perks and benefits include:
- Flexible, remote-friendly working arrangements with support for your home office setup.
- Stock options to give you a stake in our future success.
- Comprehensive medical insurance and life insurance.
- A culture that prioritizes autonomy, asynchronous communication, and professional growth.
