We are looking for a dedicated Engineering Manager with a deep focus on Machine Learning to join our team. Whether you are based in Berlin or working remotely from anywhere, you will report directly to our CTO and play a vital role in shaping the future of our search experience. Our team of 115 people is driven by a unique mission, as we use our profits to plant millions of trees where they are needed most. By joining us, you will lead engineers who build sophisticated solutions using Large Language Models and Natural Language Processing, directly impacting how millions of users find answers and interact with our platform.

What you'll be doing

• Empower your team by removing technical and operational roadblocks, facilitating clear decision-making, and providing the necessary support to ensure your engineers can do their best work.
• Drive AI innovation by coordinating research and delivery efforts, ensuring that our experiments and projects are executed effectively while addressing the unique challenges of machine learning.
• Shape our strategy by partnering with product and engineering leaders to guide our investments in data and AI, while actively mentoring your team to foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

What you'll bring

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong background in both technical leadership and machine learning. We are looking for someone who possesses the following qualifications:

• At least 3 years of documented experience in leading, coaching, and mentoring engineering teams.
• A robust technical foundation in Machine Learning, including practical experience with Natural Language Processing, classification, embeddings, and the deployment of Large Language Models in real-world production environments.
• Prior experience working as a software, data, or ML engineer, which allows you to apply modern engineering practices to our development lifecycle.
• A proven track record of hiring for engineering roles with a strong commitment to building diverse and inclusive workplaces.
• Fluency in English, which serves as our primary company language.
