We ❤ Engineering.  As our Engineering Manager, you’ll work with our world-class Engineering team. Reporting to our Director of Engineering, you’ll be joining a team who have helped build companies like Chime, Twitter, Instacart, E-Trade, McKinsey, Etsy, eBay, LendingTree, Expedia and more.

REQUIREMENTS

As an Engineering Manager, you will work with our small but mighty development team to build and scale high quality financial products. 

Some of what you will be doing includes:

• People & Team Management:  Maintain a talent-dense and high-trust team through transparency, coaching, feedback sessions, and using data to measure what matters
• Agile & Process Management: Lead agile processes for a scrum team, and collaborate with PM and Senior Developers to plan and execute on the roadmap
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with stakeholders from across the business to align expectations and manage dependencies
• Technical Leadership: Set a high bar for quality by mitigating technical risks, advocating for best practices, and identifying technical opportunities that align with business goals  

The skills required for this role - 

• 2+ years of managing software engineers in a dynamic startup environment as a team lead or direct manager
• 4+ years as a software developer working on web products using a modern tech stack (distributed, serverless, microservices, cloud native)
• Successful experience building a strong performance culture and coaching developers to do their best work
• Experience with multiple flavors of agile, ie. Scrum, Kanban, Extreme Programming, and using agile principles to continually improve execution and team culture
• Excellent project management skills, including experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence). Can successfully use data, process, and collaboration to deliver aligned results for the business.
• Successful experience balancing priorities between technical debt, KTLO, feature iterations, and new feature delivery.
• Strong communicator and collaborator who knows how to connect the dots between departments and stakeholders.

Bonus points - 

• Experience working in FinTech
• Has built or managed Mobile applications (ie. React Native, Flutter, Native mobile)

• Market range for this role at North One is $160,000-$175,000 CAD. At this time, we are looking for a candidate located in Canada.
