At Cortex, we build the internal developer portal that helps teams at organizations like Netflix, Dropbox, and Adobe cut through the noise. By providing paved paths to production, we enable developers to catalog, score, and improve service quality so they can focus on work that truly moves the business forward. We are a team of about 90 people, backed by significant funding from firms like IVP, Sequoia Capital, and Tiger Global. We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join our fully remote, US-based team on a full-time basis to help us scale our technical vision.
Responsibilities
- Mentor and coach a group of talented software engineers to support their technical and professional development.
- Partner with our product, support, and go-to-market teams to define the technical roadmap and drive the execution of key projects.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement new processes to improve team efficiency and foster a collaborative engineering culture.
Requirements
We are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation and a history of effective leadership. You should have at least 5 years of experience working as a software engineer, plus an additional 5 years specifically managing senior-level engineers. A bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience is required. We highly value candidates who have thrived in hyper-growth or B2B environments. You should be an excellent communicator and problem solver who is comfortable juggling multiple initiatives at once. Familiarity with API management or developer portals is considered a significant plus.
