At Numat, we are dedicated to transforming the world through precision chemistries. As a global leader in Metal-Organic Framework research, we have spent over a decade pioneering solutions that help industries capture and separate hazardous chemicals. Our work is essential for protecting human health and the environment, and we are proud to be the first company to successfully commercialize these materials at an industrial scale. By joining our team, you will help our partners achieve their net zero goals through bold, innovative chemistry.
The role
We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join our team in Chicago on a full-time, on-site basis. In this leadership position, you will oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of test systems for separation processes. You will report directly to the Director of R&D and play a critical role in bridging the gap between material discovery and industrial application. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced professional who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and is ready to take a hands-on approach to complex engineering challenges.
Core responsibilities
- Lead the design of bench-scale and pilot-scale testing systems to produce high-quality, reproducible data for process demonstration.
- Collaborate with our scientific team to identify new separation applications and establish technical targets for material discovery.
- Drive process validation, optimization, and design for membrane-based, PSA, and TSA separation technologies.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong background in chemical engineering and a passion for commercializing new technology. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- A PhD in Chemical Engineering is preferred, though candidates with an MS or BS in the field will be considered.
- At least 5 years of relevant industry experience.
- Deep expertise in gas adsorption, mass transfer, and dynamic adsorption systems.
- Proven experience in designing and validating test systems for adsorbent characterization.
- Proficiency in Six Sigma methodologies and measurement system analysis.
- Strong technical skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment where you are comfortable being hands-on with operations.
Compensation and benefits
We offer a competitive salary and equity package to reward your contributions to our mission. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:
- Family health, dental, and vision insurance.
- 401k savings plan.
- Flexible PTO and paid parental leave.
- FSA benefits and long-term disability insurance.
How to apply
If you are ready to help us drive innovation in precision chemistry, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application directly to our team. We value a diverse workforce and encourage all qualified candidates to apply, as we consider every applicant without regard to personal background or protected status.
