Overstory is on a mission to combat the climate crisis by providing real-time intelligence on the planet's vegetation. By applying machine learning to satellite imagery, we help over 40 global utilities reduce wildfire risks and improve grid reliability. We are a remote-first team of 62 people, and we are looking for an Engineering Manager to help us scale our impact.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and support cross-functional teams focused on vegetation management and data ingestion.
- Manage up to 10 engineers, including Tech Leads, while fostering an inclusive and high-performing culture.
- Partner with product managers to balance short-term delivery with long-term architectural goals.
- Drive technical excellence and decision-making within your domains.
- Attract and hire top engineering talent to grow our team.
- Collaborate with other leaders to refine our engineering practices and accelerate product development.
Must-haves
- At least 2 years of experience leading and managing engineers across multiple teams.
- Proven ability to drive business impact through technology in a high-growth, scaleup environment.
- Strong experience with React, TypeScript, Python, and Postgres.
- Familiarity with data pipelines and working in cloud-based, build-it-run-it environments like GCP or Kubernetes.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for mentoring engineers at all levels.
- Ability to work within the GMT or CET time zones.
- Fluency in English.
