Engineering Manager at Relayfi

We are Relay, and our mission is to help small businesses succeed by transforming how they manage their finances. Traditional banking often hinders growth, so we have built an all-in-one, collaborative platform designed to give business owners and their finance teams a human-centric experience. We are currently looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join our Core team on a full-time, hybrid basis in Canada. In this role, you will lead the development of features that enhance our native collaboration and integration tools, directly influencing the technical direction of a product used by thousands of customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily operations of the Core engineering team, ensuring that project planning, execution, and delivery meet our high standards for quality and efficiency.
• Facilitate effective engineering rituals, including sprint planning, code reviews, and technical design reviews, while collaborating with product management to align our output with business goals.
• Support the professional growth of your team members through active mentorship, effective hiring, and performance management to foster a high-performing and collaborative culture.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should possess a strong blend of technical expertise and leadership experience. We are looking for the following qualifications:

• At least 5 years of professional development experience within a startup environment, including a minimum of 1 year in a people-management capacity.
• A solid technical background with a proven ability to ship high-quality products, ideally with familiarity in our stack, which includes Node.js, TypeScript, React, and AWS.
• A pragmatic, customer-focused mindset that allows you to make effective trade-offs in a fast-paced environment while maintaining clear communication during times of change.
• A collaborative spirit with the ability to connect cross-functional teams and solve complex problems creatively.
