Engineering Manager at Metabase

The role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our fully remote, distributed team. This is a full-time, mid-level position available to candidates anywhere in the world. As a leader within our organization, you will play a vital role in shaping our engineering culture and helping us advance the state of the art in the business intelligence industry.

Core responsibilities

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement that enhances our execution speed, the quality of our output, and the overall happiness of our engineering organization.
• Actively recruit, hire, onboard, and mentor high-performing individual contributors to build a world-class team.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Customer Success teams to scope and plan projects that align with our roadmap, ensuring a healthy balance between new feature development, technical debt reduction, and bug fixes.

Skills and experience

• At least 2 years of experience in engineering management or a comparable role where you have demonstrated the ability to support career development and build effective teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong preference for written documentation to support our asynchronous, distributed work environment.
• A sharp product sensibility that allows you to evaluate designs and proposals, translate them into technical requirements, and mitigate risks early in the process.
• A solid technical foundation with deep expertise in either the Clojure ecosystem or the frontend stack, specifically React and TypeScript.
• The ability to analyze project execution, identify bottlenecks, and implement necessary changes to people, processes, or project scopes.
