At Imbue, we build AI systems that reason and code, training our own foundation models and prototyping agents that can safely tackle ambitious goals in the real world. We are looking for an Engineering Manager who shares our deep commitment to individual growth and wants to help shape a team where engineers feel supported, challenged, and inspired every day.
About the Role
We are hiring an Engineering Manager on a Full Time basis. In this role you will focus on mentoring engineers, guiding their technical and personal development, and removing obstacles so the team can do its best work. You will also help shape our hiring process and foster a culture that attracts and retains exceptional talent.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentor engineers, especially junior team members, through one-on-ones, pairing sessions, and thoughtful feedback.
- Remove blockers-whether technical or personal-so colleagues can stay focused and productive.
- Conduct technical interviews and lead onboarding to ensure new hires feel welcomed and set up for success.
Requirements
We are looking for someone who is an experienced software developer that others are excited to learn from. You should be comfortable training deep neural networks and staying current with the latest machine learning theory and practice. Strong empathy, genuine interest in people and culture, and a desire to invest in the “softer” skills of management are essential. We value diverse backgrounds and encourage you to highlight any open-source work, side projects, or other experiences that showcase your strengths.
Location
This position is based in the United States and requires on-site collaboration.
Compensation and Benefits
The cash salary range for this role is $170,000–$350,000, with equity between $10,000–$2,500,000. Additional benefits include a yearly self-improvement budget of $20K+ for coaching, courses, and conferences, generous paid time off, and comprehensive equity compensation. You will also enjoy frequent team events, dinners, and off-sites as we actively co-create a positive, intentional culture together.
