At webAI, we are redefining the future of artificial intelligence by building a decentralized platform that challenges the traditional reliance on massive datasets. We believe that powerful AI can be achieved with limited data, and we are looking for passionate individuals to join our fast-growing team. Our culture is built on a foundation of truth, ownership, tenacity, and humility, ensuring that every team member feels supported while we push the boundaries of what is possible in the tech world.
The opportunity
We are scaling rapidly and need an Engineering Manager to lead our Runtime Team. This is a vital role for someone who thrives on building distributed systems and wants to guide a high-performance team through a period of significant growth. You will be instrumental in shaping our technical strategy, mentoring talented engineers, and ensuring our systems remain robust as we expand our reach. If you have a background in managing teams through rapid scaling and a passion for complex architecture, you will find a home here.
A day in the life
- You will lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing guidance on system design for both local air-gapped environments and distributed customer deployments.
- You will collaborate closely with product teams and technical leads to drive new features, ensuring our updates are reliable and backwards-compatible.
- You will refine our engineering processes and foster a culture of continuous learning, making complex technical decisions clear and accessible to all stakeholders.
Who you are
You are a hands-on leader with at least 8 years of software engineering experience, including 3 years in a management role. You communicate clearly in English and excel at bridging the gap between technical requirements and business goals. Your background includes:
- Strong proficiency in backend development, particularly with Golang, along with experience using Python, Rust, and messaging systems like MQTT, Kafka, or NATS.
- A solid understanding of machine learning and neural networks, paired with experience in CI/CD pipelines and Agile methodologies.
- A proven track record of managing engineering teams and overseeing complex system architectures.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Why you'll love it here
We are committed to supporting your well-being and professional development as you help us build the next generation of AI. When you join our on-site team in the United States, you will enjoy a variety of perks designed to help you thrive:
- Comprehensive dental insurance, vision insurance, and life insurance.
- A $200 monthly health and wellness stipend and a $400 annual continuing education credit.
- Unlimited PTO and flexible work week options.
- Parental and bereavement leave.
- Free parking for all in-office employees.
