The role
We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join our Platform and Application Architecture team on a full-time basis. This is a hybrid role based in Australia. You will report to the Director of Engineering and lead a dedicated team responsible for our system services, cloud infrastructure, and the design patterns that support our wider product and engineering departments.
Core responsibilities
- Direct the technical roadmap and strategy for your team, ensuring that our platform services align with broader business goals and product definitions.
- Foster a high-performance culture by providing one-on-one coaching, career mentorship, and feedback to help your team members grow and succeed.
- Act as a technical enabler for your squad by removing roadblocks, facilitating workshops, and maintaining high standards for software engineering practices.
Skills and experience
We value diverse perspectives and encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every single requirement. To be successful in this role, you should bring the following:
- At least 2 years of experience in engineering management, specifically focused on building autonomous and high-performing teams.
- Deep technical expertise in building distributed, cloud-native applications using AWS, Kubernetes, and Kafka.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as PHP, Golang, and Python, alongside experience with Terraform for infrastructure management.
- A strong understanding of system architecture patterns, including SOA and microservices.
- A high-agency mindset with a bias toward action and the ability to navigate complex technical trade-offs.
Compensation and benefits
We are committed to supporting our team through a variety of perks designed to foster professional and personal well-being:
- Hybrid work policy to provide flexibility in your work environment.
- Access to share options and comprehensive parental leave policies.
- A dedicated personal learning and development fund, plus company-wide coaching and regular hackathons.
- Mental health support and a variety of social clubs, ranging from sports and games to book clubs.
- Regular opportunities to celebrate success through our awards programs and social events.
