Earlier this year, we introduced the public beta for Mercury Personal, a premium banking experience designed specifically for founders and investors. We noticed that our business customers often wanted the same seamless, technology-first approach for their personal finances. By offering high-yield savings, free wires, and intuitive features like auto-transfer rules, we are building a platform that eliminates the need for frustrating phone calls. We are currently refining the product based on user feedback and expanding our capabilities to include joint accounts, trust accounts, and international wire transfers. As we move into this new domain, we are looking for a dedicated leader to help us scale and define the future of personal banking.
The opportunity
We are seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager to oversee our Personal Banking team. This is a pivotal role where you will own a significant portion of our expansion strategy. You will bridge the gap between technical execution and product vision, working closely with designers and product leaders to bring sophisticated financial tools to life. Your work will directly influence how our users manage their wealth, and you will play a key role in shaping the technical roadmap for a rapidly growing business line.
A day in the life
- You will lead, mentor, and grow a team of eight or more engineers, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and innovation.
- You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to build new features while thoughtfully integrating existing business banking functionality into the personal platform.
- You will drive technical strategy by balancing the development of new products with the maintenance of our existing systems, ensuring we remain agile and reliable.
Who you are
You are an experienced engineering leader with at least five years of management experience, specifically within full-stack and product engineering environments. You have a track record of making sound architectural decisions and can clearly explain the trade-offs involved in your technical choices. You are product-minded and thrive in environments where you can take ownership of ambiguous challenges. While you do not need to be an expert in our entire stack, you should be familiar with or eager to learn Haskell and TypeScript. You communicate effectively in English and are comfortable navigating complex, cross-functional projects with empathy and focus.
Why you'll love it here
We offer a remote-first work environment that allows you to contribute from anywhere. Our compensation package is designed to be highly competitive and includes equity in the form of stock options. For this role, our target base salary ranges are 237,600 to 279,500 USD for employees based in the United States, and 216,200 to 254,300 CAD for those based in Canada. We are committed to transparency and equity, ensuring our rewards reflect your expertise, experience, and location.
