At Ro, we are on a mission to put patients in control of their own health through a vertically integrated platform that combines telehealth, labs, and pharmacy services. We have supported millions of patients across the United States since 2017, and we are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Patient Identity and Privacy team. In this role, you will build secure, scalable systems that protect sensitive data while enabling our continued growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead a high-performing engineering team focused on building services that are essential to patient trust and our operational scale.
- Drive technical architecture and contribute directly to the codebase while mentoring team members and setting high engineering standards.
- Innovate within the fields of identity, security, and privacy to improve our authentication, registration, and consent management patterns.
- Define the technical vision for how we collect, manage, and utilize first-party data to provide personalized care while maintaining strict privacy.
- Collaborate with our growth teams to evolve our CRM and digital advertising technologies without compromising patient privacy.
- Provide regular feedback and coaching to support the professional development of your team.
- Work closely with product, data, design, security, and legal partners to shape our long-term strategy and roadmap.
Must-haves
- At least 2 years of experience in engineering management.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience architecting distributed systems and scalable web applications.
- Proven ability to define and lead technical vision for a specific product domain from discovery to delivery.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- A track record of building cross-functional partnerships and leading initiatives that span multiple teams.
- The ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and a proactive approach to seeking clarity.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience guiding engineering teams through significant scale-up phases.
- Background in building Identity and Access Management solutions.
- Experience developing systems for user consent and preference management.
- Familiarity with customer data platforms or working with first-party data.
- Experience working in regulated sectors like finance or healthcare with a focus on security and privacy compliance.
Benefits
The target base salary for this role is between $213,400 and $245,000, depending on factors such as experience, skills, and location.
