Engineering Manager, Internal Tools at ActBlue

We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Internal Tools team, ensuring our internal workflows remain robust, efficient, and capable of supporting our users at scale.

Key outcomes

• Provide leadership and mentorship to a diverse group of software engineers, supporting their professional growth through regular feedback, goal setting, and performance reviews.
• Partner with product managers, UX leads, and engineering stakeholders to define and execute roadmaps that align with our strategic objectives.
• Foster a culture of rapid iteration and frequent delivery, ensuring the team consistently provides value while maintaining high standards for software performance and reliability.
• Drive clear communication across departments to resolve technical blockers, manage project scope, and ensure high-quality, timely results.
• Facilitate technical decision-making that prioritizes long-term maintainability and scalability, while championing a user-centric approach to product development.
• Cultivate an inclusive and collaborative team environment that encourages transparency and collective accountability.

Requirements

• Three to five or more years of experience in people management, specifically supporting individual contributors at various levels.
• A proven track record of recruiting, retaining, and developing high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong expertise in project management, with the ability to guide complex technical projects from inception to completion.
• Deep familiarity with Agile methodologies and best practices for modern software development.
• Demonstrated success in building user-centric products and delivering value through iterative processes, such as MVPs and frequent deployments.
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on remote-first collaboration and building consensus across cross-functional teams.
• A commitment to fostering diversity, inclusion, and a strong sense of belonging within the workplace.
• Proficiency in English.

Preferred qualifications

• Professional experience working with Ruby on Rails and React.
• Background in the political technology sector or electoral politics.
• Experience working in payments, B2B, or two-sided marketplace environments.

Compensation

This is a full-time, remote position with a salary range of $174,000 to $211,000. We are committed to consistent compensation practices and determine final offers based on candidate experience, interview performance, and internal parity.
