The role

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This position is based in Canada, with a preference for candidates in Eastern or Atlantic time zones to facilitate collaboration with our European teams. You will serve as a player-coach, leading a cross-functional squad dedicated to evolving and integrating our solutions for Health Systems and Life Sciences partners. This role is perfect for a technical leader who wants to maintain a hands-on connection to code while actively developing their management and mentorship skills.

Core responsibilities

• Lead the technical direction of your squad by contributing to code in Kotlin, Spring Boot, and React, while driving architectural decisions and conducting code reviews.
• Manage and mentor a team of engineers, focusing on their career growth, performance feedback, and fostering a culture of ownership.
• Partner with Product Management and Solution Architects to estimate complex integration projects, manage delivery timelines, and serve as a technical expert for our enterprise clients.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should bring a blend of deep technical expertise and a passion for people development:

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience with a strong foundation in full-stack development.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in a leadership capacity, such as a Team Lead or Engineering Manager.
• Proficiency in REST APIs, SDKs, SSO, and modern cloud infrastructure.
• A proven ability to balance hands-on coding with leadership duties in a remote or distributed environment.
• Familiarity with AI-augmented development tools, viewing them as force multipliers while maintaining rigorous standards for code quality and security.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical complexities for non-technical stakeholders.
