At Ro, we are on a mission to help patients achieve their health goals by providing the most effective and accessible care possible. We operate a vertically integrated platform that combines nationwide telehealth, lab services, and pharmacy care into a single, seamless experience. Since our founding in 2017, we have reached millions of patients across the United States, including those in primary care deserts. We are moving away from a system built for institutions and toward one built for people, prioritizing transparent, patient-centric care that evolves alongside individual needs.
The role
We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead our Infrastructure team. This is a full-time, remote position designed for an experienced leader who enjoys a player-coach dynamic. You will be responsible for guiding a high-performing team while remaining deeply involved in the technical work. If you are passionate about observability, developer tooling, and database systems, this role offers the opportunity to shape our technical strategy while fostering a culture of ownership and excellence.
Core responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of infrastructure engineers by fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes technical growth and high-quality output.
- Serve as a player-coach by contributing directly to architecture decisions and the codebase while simultaneously managing team performance and project execution.
- Drive strategic initiatives across critical areas such as performance, observability, and developer experience to ensure our infrastructure remains scalable and reliable.
Skills and experience
To succeed in this role, you should possess a strong background in systems engineering or platform development. We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following:
- A solid technical foundation with the ability to dive deep into complex infrastructure challenges.
- Proven experience in technical leadership and mentorship, with a focus on developing individual talent and team capabilities.
- A pragmatic approach to problem-solving, balancing the need for long-term sustainability with the velocity required to deliver results.
- The ability to communicate effectively and align infrastructure priorities with broader business and product goals.
- Comfort working in ambiguous environments where you can drive clarity through thoughtful planning and execution.
Compensation and benefits
The target salary range for this position is $208,000 to $250,000 per year, supplemented by a competitive equity package. We offer a comprehensive suite of benefits designed to support your well-being and professional growth, including:
- Full medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
- A 401k plan with company matching.
- Flexible hours and paid time off to ensure a healthy work-life balance.
- A dedicated learning budget to support your ongoing professional development.
- The flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in the United States.
