Engineering Manager (Growth) at 7shifts

Responsibilities

• Mentor and lead a group of motivated engineers, acting as both a supportive people manager and a technical partner.
• Foster a culture focused on rapid experimentation and iteration to better understand customer behavior and improve product performance.
• Provide your team with the business and product context necessary to drive meaningful impact in their specific problem spaces.
• Help engineers connect their daily tasks to broader company goals, enabling them to prioritize work effectively.
• Participate in high-level technical decision-making to boost engineering velocity and improve overall work quality.
• Drive improvements to our internal engineering processes and cultural practices.
• Model high standards for decision-making and maintain a healthy, sustainable work-life balance for the team.

Must-haves

• Proven experience in engineering leadership, ideally within a growth-focused team, including a history of managing high-velocity A/B tests.
• A genuine passion for coaching and supporting the professional growth of skilled engineers.
• The ability to switch between different programming languages, frameworks, and technical paradigms with ease.
• Strong systems-thinking skills that allow you to address challenges at both a high level and an implementation level.
• A collaborative mindset and a desire to learn from colleagues while tackling complex organizational and technical problems.
• Fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience building scalable and robust web or mobile application services.
• Knowledge of Domain Driven Design (DDD) and Command Query Responsibility Separation (CQRS).
• Proficiency with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Redis.
• Familiarity with languages such as PHP, JavaScript, Kotlin, Java, Swift, or Objective C.
• Background in the restaurant-tech industry.
