Engineering Manager, Frontend at Runway

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to guide our frontend team as we push the boundaries of generative media and develop products that will redefine how the world tells stories.

What you bring

We need a hands-on Engineering Manager who will lead our frontend team on a full-time, remote basis. You will combine four or more years of frontend engineering experience with at least one year in a team-lead or engineering-manager role, and you will be excited to apply TypeScript, React, API design, and rapid prototyping to AI-driven products. Your work will be fully remote and open to candidates anywhere.

• Lead a talented frontend engineering team, setting priorities each week with leadership and the broader engineering group to keep ambitious product goals on track.
• Develop and ship state-of-the-art AI features while providing technical mentorship and raising the performance, security, reliability, and code quality of our products.
• Build and grow a diverse team of engineers, fostering inclusion and psychological safety so every teammate can do their best work.

Requirements

You bring at least one year of experience leading an engineering team and four or more years building production frontend applications. You are fluent in TypeScript and React, comfortable designing robust client-server architectures and APIs, and skilled at turning leadership goals into clear, actionable tasks for your team. An empathetic and inclusive leadership style, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to prototype quickly under tight deadlines are essential. We value candidates who are curious about AI and eager to collaborate across research, design, and creative teams.

What we offer

For this role we offer a salary range of $290,000-340,000.
