The role

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Database Reliability Engineering team. This is a full-time, on-site position based in the United States. In this role, you will guide a team that blends traditional database administration with software engineering to ensure our platform remains performant and available. You will be responsible for building the team and the products that improve our infrastructure, automation, and tooling, ultimately empowering other engineering teams to leverage our data platforms effectively.

Core responsibilities

• Partner with our engineering teams to architect products that utilize our infrastructure platforms in a scalable and reliable manner.
• Ensure we meet strict enterprise-grade service level agreements by building products that consistently exceed those standards.
• Foster an environment where team members thrive, providing mentorship and managing projects through our standard processes to ensure the team executes well.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong technical background and a proven track record in leadership. We are looking for the following qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or DBRE management.
• At least 5 years of experience running MongoDB or PostgreSQL at scale.
• Demonstrated success in people management, strategic planning, and managing multiple concurrent projects.
• A history of growing and mentoring team members with diverse experience levels.
• Proficiency with Redis, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Ruby on Rails.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and a high level of accountability for team output.

Compensation and benefits

For candidates based in the United States, the expected salary range for this position is $180,000 to $230,000 per year. In addition to cash compensation, we provide a comprehensive total rewards package that includes equity grants of restricted stock so that all employees own a piece of our company.
