The opportunity
We are looking for a thoughtful and empathetic Engineering Manager to join our team in Chennai, India. In this role, you will lead, coach, and organize a group of 5 to 7 engineers who are building mission-critical services. You will act as a champion for your team, removing roadblocks and advocating for their professional growth while guiding them through complex technical challenges. You will sit at the intersection of engineering excellence and human-centric leadership, ensuring we deliver scalable software that expands renewable energy access to millions of households.
A day in the life
- You will empower and guide a team of mission-driven engineers, helping them solve complex problems using our core stack, which includes Java, Python, Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, and React.
- You will collaborate with product, design, and marketing partners to define roadmaps and strategies that align our engineering efforts with broader business goals.
- You will provide ongoing mentorship to your direct reports, aligning their personal career aspirations with the needs of the team while fostering a culture of high performance and empathy.
Who you are
You are an experienced leader with 8 to 12 years of total experience, including at least 3 years in a team lead or management capacity. You have a proven track record of growing engineers and managing production-grade, high-volume applications. You are comfortable working in a hybrid environment and possess a strong grasp of modern development practices, including experience with AWS and Kubernetes. You communicate clearly, solve problems pragmatically, and are deeply committed to our mission of building a sustainable, clean-energy future. Proficiency in English is required for this role.
