Engineering Manager, Authorizations at Pismo

About the Role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager, Authorizations to join us on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be the driving force behind our authorization systems, focusing on the professional development of your team, the technical quality of our output, and maintaining operational excellence. You will play a key part in scaling both our people and our systems as we continue to grow in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Hire, mentor, and coach engineers through consistent feedback and 1:1 meetings to ensure a high-performance culture.
• Oversee the health and reliability of our services in production, ensuring we meet or exceed our established SLOs and SLAs.
• Maintain high standards for development by championing best practices in code quality, security, resilience, and performance.

Requirements

To be successful in this position, you should bring the following qualifications:

• At least 3 years of experience managing high-performing engineering teams.
• Hands-on technical proficiency with Java or Golang.
• Strong experience working with relational databases, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
• A solid grasp of Agile methodologies, DevOps, and SRE principles.
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure and familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• An upper-intermediate level of English (B2).
• Bonus points if you have previous experience in the card issuing industry or knowledge of ISO 8583 authorization standards.
