Engineering Lead at Boulevard

Boulevard is the creator of the first client experience platform specifically designed for appointment-based, self-care businesses like spas, salons, and medspas. We are looking for an Engineering Lead to join our remote team and help us build world-class technology that empowers these businesses to thrive.

Responsibilities

• Lead your squad in the strategic planning and execution of technical initiatives, ensuring all work aligns with our broader company vision.
• Drive the adoption of engineering best practices and foster a culture of innovation using a stack that includes Elixir, Phoenix, React, TypeScript, and Postgres.
• Own the technical implementation and architecture of scalable, maintainable systems while proactively addressing technical debt.
• Mentor and develop your direct reports, providing clear feedback and fostering an inclusive environment that supports individual growth.
• Establish and track key performance indicators to ensure high software quality and team productivity.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and marketing stakeholders to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes.
• Participate in our Incident Commander on-call rotation to guide incident resolution and identify opportunities for system improvement.

Must-haves

• At least 5 years of experience building well-architected systems at scale, with 2 or more years of experience delivering complex, high-impact initiatives.
• A strong balance of technical expertise and leadership potential, with a genuine desire to develop your skills in managing direct reports.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor your message for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• A collaborative mindset and the ability to partner effectively across various departments to achieve shared goals.
• Strong ownership and autonomy, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and make sound trade-offs regarding system design and operational feasibility.
• Proficiency in English.

The budgeted cash compensation for this role ranges from $172,200 to $246,000 USD, depending on your experience and skills.
