We are looking for an Engineering Lead to guide our payments engineering efforts at Versapay. This full-time remote role centers on leading development of the systems that power our Accounts Receivable Efficiency Suite, which automates invoicing, B2B payments, and cash application for growing businesses. Versapay integrates directly with major ERPs, supports self-serve payment portals, and helps teams resolve issues that automation alone cannot handle. Backed by Great Hill Partners, we operate across the U.S. and Canada, serve 10,000 customers, and process more than 110 million transactions and $170 billion in payments volume each year.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, guiding technical decisions and supporting work that spans increasingly complex and critical areas of our application.
- Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code while gathering requirements, estimating effort, and collaborating with designers and product managers to deliver features aligned with company and customer goals.
- Investigate and resolve performance or data integrity issues, maintain documentation, and drive research and development initiatives that improve scalability and reliability as our customer base grows.
Requirements
- Background in computer science, engineering, or mathematics with at least five years of software engineering experience using C#.
- Strong working knowledge of the .NET Framework 4.8 and .NET Core, along with experience integrating external APIs and building web applications that include security, session management, and modern development practices.
- Proficiency with relational databases such as SQL Server and stored procedures, object-oriented programming, and front-end technologies including CSS, JavaScript, and HTML.
- Experience managing engineering teams, running meetings, tracking project progress with Jira, and communicating status, risks, and outcomes to senior stakeholders.
- Familiarity with the OWASP Top Ten, security best practices, and version control using Git and GitHub Actions.
- Payments industry experience, particularly integrating processors such as FIS, Fiserv, or Adyen on the acquiring side, is a strong advantage, as is knowledge of MVC, Postman, and Datadog.
What we offer
- Remote work with the flexibility to contribute from anywhere.
- The opportunity to shape critical financial infrastructure used by thousands of businesses and to grow alongside a team that values customer focus, collaboration, diversity, continuous improvement, and ownership.
