We are currently looking for an experienced Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team on-site in Norfolk, Virginia. In this role, you will provide critical support to the U.S. Coast Guard at the Surface Forces Logistics Center, helping to ensure the operational readiness of various cutter classes through expert engineering and logistical planning.
What you'll be doing
- Develop and write technical statements of work for ship repair, alteration operations, and the procurement of government-furnished equipment.
- Manage the lifecycle of Engineering Change and Time Compliant Technical Order projects by planning meetings, tracking progress, and coordinating technical and logistical requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering branch personnel to analyze vessel repairs, estimate costs, and review technical documentation for Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical systems.
What you'll bring
To be successful in this position, you should possess a strong background in the marine industry and a commitment to technical excellence. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- At least five years of experience in the marine field, including practical knowledge of shipboard systems and specific experience working with the U.S. Coast Guard.
- A minimum of two years of experience working with engineering disciplines related to Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical ship systems.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong skills in technical writing, project management, and market research.
- The physical ability to climb ladders and access small shipboard spaces to perform inspections and assessments.
- U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain or maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Fluency in English.
