Since 2009, Rent the Runway has been transforming the fashion industry through our Closet in the Cloud, the world’s largest shared designer closet. Our mission is to empower women to feel their best every day by providing access to millions of designer items, from everyday workwear to special occasion pieces. We operate as a two-sided discovery engine, connecting customers with brand partners through a robust platform built on data, logistics, and technology. Our European Technology Hub in Galway, established in 2019, sits in the historic Claddagh area and serves as a vital center for our software engineering, product development, and data science teams. We pride ourselves on being a pragmatic, entrepreneurial group that values continuous integration, peer code reviews, and active contributions to the open-source community.
The opportunity
We are looking for a senior-level Engineer III to join our Quality Engineering team in Galway. This role is central to our mission of delivering a seamless experience for our customers. You will act as a subject matter expert within our agile product teams, embedding best practices across our organization. Your primary focus will be to lead automation efforts, refine our build and deployment workflows, and mitigate risk by building out sophisticated automated test systems. This is an ideal position for a self-starter who is passionate about quality culture and wants to work with a talented, driven group of engineers.
A day in the life
- Design, develop, and execute automation scripts using open-source tools like Jest and Cypress.io to debug and improve our complex microservices architecture.
- Partner closely with engineering teams to review technical designs, provide meaningful risk assessments, and translate business requirements into comprehensive test plans.
- Enhance our deployment pipelines and test automation frameworks by leveraging cloud infrastructure to ensure high-quality releases across testing, pre-production, and production environments.
Who you are
You are a multi-stack engineer with at least four years of experience in development technologies and test automation frameworks. You communicate effectively in English and bring a deep understanding of the software development life cycle. Your background includes the following:
- Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript and associated tools, specifically React, Jest, Cypress.io, and TypeScript.
- Experience working with RESTful APIs and asynchronous communication in a microservices environment.
- A solid grasp of cloud and containerization principles, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Analytical expertise in troubleshooting and monitoring, with a desire to build robust, scalable testing solutions.
Why you'll love it here
We are committed to your personal and professional growth and offer a supportive environment in our hybrid Galway office, where you can work remotely for part of the week. Our benefits package is designed to support your well-being and future:
- Generous paid time off, including annual leave and family sick leave.
- Universal paid parental leave paired with a flexible return-to-work program.
- A paid sabbatical after five years of continuous service.
- Comprehensive dental and health insurance coverage starting on your first day.
- A competitive stakeholder pension scheme to help you plan for the future.
- Regular company-wide events and outings to celebrate our team spirit.
