Gravis Robotics is a pioneering startup dedicated to transforming heavy construction equipment into intelligent, autonomous robots. By blending learning-based automation with augmented remote control, we empower a single operator to manage entire fleets of earthmoving machinery within a gamified interface. Our team draws upon over ten years of academic research in large-scale robotics, and we are currently scaling rapidly to introduce these innovations to the construction industry through active partnerships with global market leaders. We are looking for an Embedded Systems Engineer to join our team in Switzerland on a full-time, on-site basis.
Key outcomes
- Develop and implement core autonomous features on embedded platforms specifically for our autonomous excavators.
- Build and manage a robust DevOps cycle for our embedded systems by addressing hurdles in cross-compilation, deployment, and infrastructure.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to design and execute system architectures tailored for autonomous machine applications.
- Analyze and optimize the performance of our embedded systems to ensure peak efficiency.
- Ensure our codebases and technical documentation remain accurate, maintainable, and up to date.
- Monitor and integrate the latest advancements in autonomous vehicle technology and relevant hardware platforms.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field.
- At least 2 years of professional experience working with embedded platforms for machine vision within the autonomous vehicle sector or a similar high-tech domain.
- A demonstrated ability to design, implement, and refine developer environments for embedded systems.
- Deep technical expertise in embedded GPU programming and performance optimization, specifically for Nvidia platforms.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset for working within a team.
- Full professional proficiency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience developing high-reliability applications for industries like aerospace or automotive where safety and quality standards are paramount.
- Practical knowledge of the Nvidia Drive SoC.
- Familiarity with industry standards and technologies related to autonomous vehicles.
- Background in AI and machine learning techniques applied to robotics.
- Proficiency with the Robot Operating System (ROS) or similar robotics frameworks.
- Knowledge of computer vision algorithms and image processing techniques.
- Experience with sensor integration and calibration, including LiDAR, RADAR, and camera systems.
- Ability to utilize parallel programming frameworks like CUDA, Halide, or OpenCL to accelerate processing tasks.
