Cepton (Nasdaq: CPTN) is a Silicon Valley innovator specializing in high-performance lidar solutions for the automotive, smart city, and industrial sectors. We are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our team in San Jose, CA, to help us push the boundaries of 3D perception and high-density lidar technology.
Responsibilities
- Develop and program on bare metal within unique hardware environments.
- Design specialized communication protocols and operating systems.
- Optimize smart algorithms for hybrid environments involving CPUs, FPGAs, and hardware accelerators.
- Contribute to the validation and design workflow for next-generation ASICs.
- Build automation software for manufacturing, including feedback control loops and computer vision systems for high-volume production.
- Implement and refine perception algorithms, such as object recognition and obstacle detection, using deep learning and computer vision.
- Collaborate with major automotive and industrial partners to support lidar adoption.
Must-haves
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math, physics, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
- Deep understanding of system architecture, computer algorithms, and data structures.
- Solid grasp of low-level computer architecture and communication subsystems.
- Foundational knowledge of computer vision and computer graphics.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide technical support to customers.
- A self-motivated, team-oriented mindset with the ability to thrive under pressure.
- Fluency in English.
Nice-to-haves
- A Ph.D. in a relevant technical discipline.
- Experience with networking, database management, encryption, and memory management.
- Familiarity with cloud system architecture and web programming.

The salary range for this full-time, on-site position is $125,000 to $145,000.
