Are you ready to shape the future of intelligent lidar technology and help make safe, autonomous transportation a reality for everyone?
What you bring
We are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our team on a Full Time basis. You will work on-site at our headquarters in San Jose, CA, contributing to projects that span bare-metal embedded systems, automation, and 3D perception. Our work involves programming novel hardware, designing specialized operating systems and communication protocols, and fitting advanced algorithms into hybrid environments that combine CPUs, FPGAs, and hardware accelerators. You will also create calibration and characterization software, implement manufacturing automation, and develop perception algorithms that turn raw lidar point clouds into actionable insights for automotive and industrial customers.
- Program on bare metal in novel hardware environments and participate in next-generation ASIC design and validation.
- Build automation systems that control machinery through feedback loops and computer vision, supporting high-volume lidar production.
- Implement and improve perception and visualization algorithms using computer vision and deep learning to solve object recognition and obstacle detection challenges.
This role is located in the United States and requires some local on-site customer visits as well as occasional travel to regional sites, trade shows, and conferences.
Requirements
We seek candidates who hold a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, or an equivalent field; a Ph.D. is a plus. You should be fluent in C/C++ and Python, demonstrate strong proficiency in computer algorithms and data structures, and possess a deep understanding of system architecture along with low-level computer architectures and communication subsystems. A solid grasp of computer graphics and computer vision fundamentals is important, while knowledge of networking, databases, encryption, compilation, memory management, web programming, or cloud architecture is advantageous. The ideal candidate is a reliable team player with excellent communication and writing skills, comfortable supporting customers’ technical staff, self-motivated, and able to thrive under pressure while continually striving for excellence.
What we offer
The pay range for this role is $125,000 to $145,000. Actual compensation depends on factors such as skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and work location. The total package may also include an annual performance bonus, stock options, and other incentive plans.
