We are looking for a Senior Embedded Engineer to join our team in Germany on a full-time, on-site basis. At SumUp, we build financial technology that empowers millions of small businesses globally. In this role, you will become a key subject matter expert, helping us develop and maintain the payment features that power our card readers while navigating the complexities of industry certifications. You will work within a small, cross-functional team alongside product managers, engineers, and designers to create secure, reliable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement embedded software specifically for our payment processing terminals.
- Conduct thorough code and architecture reviews to maintain high quality, focusing on payment and security software development.
- Manage the entire process of driving payment terminal certifications and perform various types of testing, including functional, regression, and exploratory testing.
Requirements
We are looking for someone with deep technical expertise and a passion for fintech. To be successful, you should have:
- Proven experience with EMV solutions, contact and contactless payments, or smart card technologies like NFC and ISO7816.
- A solid understanding of payment certifications such as EMVCo, various schemes, and E2E acquirers, as well as PCI security standards.
- Strong proficiency in C programming and experience developing on native Android applications or custom Android devices.
- Bonus points if you have a background in embedded Linux or Unix platforms and low-level application development.
