At Boston Materials, we are redefining what is possible by creating a new class of materials that are as durable and conductive as metal, yet as lightweight as plastic. By vertically aligning carbon fibers, we produce materials with exceptional energy dissipation properties that address critical challenges in the semiconductor, aerospace, and electrified vehicle industries. We are a team that values speed, innovation, and direct impact, operating without the constraints of bureaucracy so that our engineers can turn bold ideas into reality. If you are looking to contribute to a decarbonized economy and work on technologies that power the future of AI, we invite you to join our mission.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Electromechanical Engineer to join our team in a full-time capacity. In this role, you will be responsible for the assembly, integration, and maintenance of complex systems. You will work in a fast-paced environment where you will independently create technical drawings, manage wiring and electrical schematics, and build robust assemblies that push the boundaries of our proprietary Z-axis Fiber technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct durable electro-mechanical assemblies from conceptual designs and sketches, ensuring every build meets rigorous performance specifications.
- Execute precise electrical setups, including panel builds and complex wiring, while applying your expertise to ensure system reliability and safety.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical or electrical issues, taking full ownership of the troubleshooting process and sourcing necessary components to keep our operations running smoothly.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should bring a strong background in engineering and a hands-on approach to problem-solving. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- Extensive experience with Solidworks and other CAD software for design and documentation.
- Proven ability to build, test, and troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems independently.
- Strong proficiency with hand tools and fabrication, with a preference for experience operating machining equipment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills to manage shop environments and collaborate effectively across teams.
- A solid understanding of safety protocols and standards relevant to electrical and mechanical shop work.
Location
This position is an on-site role based in the United States.
Compensation and Benefits
We believe in supporting our team members both professionally and personally. Our benefits package includes:
- Vision insurance and dental insurance, with the company covering 75% of premiums for you and your dependents.
- A 401k retirement plan to help you build for the future.
- Unlimited vacation time to ensure you have the flexibility to recharge.
- Generous paid time off, including 14 holidays per year and 4 weeks of supplemental paid parental and family leave.
