Are you ready to take your engineering career to the open sea? At Glacier Fish Company, we take pride in being a premier producer of frozen-at-sea cod and pollock. We operate two large trawl catcher-processor vessels in the Bering Sea and along the coasts of Washington and Oregon. Our mission centers on quality, safety, and the sustainable health of North Pacific fisheries. We invite you to join our team and contribute to our global seafood distribution efforts.
What you bring
We are seeking a mid-level Electrician to join our team on a full-time basis for an on-site role located in the United States. You will play a vital role in maintaining our vessel systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and utilizing your expertise in engineering and electrical systems. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Managing and maintaining all onboard electrical systems, including power generation, distribution, engine room, fish processing, and bridge equipment.
- Troubleshooting complex electrical issues and performing necessary repairs or replacements using specialized testing tools.
- Collaborating directly with the Chief Engineer to ensure all systems remain operational and fully compliant with regulatory requirements such as U.S.C.G., DNV, FCC, and OSHA.
Requirements
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player who thrives in challenging environments. We prefer at least two years of experience as a marine electrician. You must be comfortable working 12-hour shifts, seven days a week, in all weather conditions, and be physically capable of lifting 50 pounds while navigating steep stairs and vertical ladders. Proficiency in English is required to follow safety protocols. You must hold relevant certifications including OSHA Safety Compliance, Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR, Shipyard Competent, and EPA Section 608. Additionally, you should be prepared to share living and dining spaces with the rest of the crew and provide two positive professional references.
What we offer
We provide a comprehensive benefits package designed to support our crew members both on and off the vessel. Our offerings include:
- 401(k) retirement plan with company matching.
- Dental insurance.
- Vision insurance.
- Employee assistance program.
- Company travel policy coverage for airfare between the vessel and your hometown upon successful completion of scheduled trips.
How to Apply
If you are a skilled professional looking for a unique opportunity at sea, we encourage you to submit your application. We look forward to reviewing your qualifications and discussing how your expertise can support our operations at Glacier Fish Company.
