Inspecting, maintaining and repairing all electronic, electrical and mechanical equipment and systems on a fleet of 66 passenger rail vehicles in accordance with OEM instructions and FRA regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of vehicle electrical and electronic systems including but not limited to propulsion, braking, cab signal and train control systems, door systems, intercoms and public address systems
- Perform inspection, service, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of vehicle mechanical systems and car-shell, including but not limited to HVAC, drive units, trucks, couplers, and brakes.
- Respond to service failures as required
- Utilize shop tools and test equipment such as wheel true machine, forklifts, table-lifts, hoists, cranes, power tools, specialized measuring tools, electronic test equipment, laptop computers and hand tools
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Ability to comply with all safety rules and instructions including the use of proper personal protective equipment
- Record completed inspections and repairs using the Maintenance Management System and other software tools; complete written reports as required
- Operate trains within the confines of the shop mechanical tracks and storage yard
