As the creators of the award-winning Halo Automatic Tire Inflator and the Halo Connect cloud platform, we help fleets save significant downtime while reducing the environmental impact of the freight industry. We are currently looking for a talented Electrical Engineer to join our team in San Mateo, California, as we continue to push the boundaries of automation in the automotive sector.

Key outcomes

• Design and maintain mixed-signal electronic schematics and printed circuit board layouts.
• Use simulation tools to verify that electronic designs meet all necessary performance and reliability standards.
• Manage the bring-up of prototype systems and conduct thorough lab and field testing to validate designs in real-world conditions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to oversee environmental, reliability, and EMC testing.
• Coordinate with vendors to establish production test strategies and define assembly requirements.
• Handle the creation and release of engineering change orders within our PLM system.
• Participate in occasional domestic or international travel as needed for project success.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering.
• At least two years of experience in product development, preferably within a high-volume or high-reliability industry like automotive.
• Proficiency with electronics design software, specifically Altium, as well as simulation tools and standard lab test equipment.
• The ability to solder and perform repairs on fine-pitch electronic components for prototyping.
• A strong interest in mechatronics, control systems, and cost-optimized design.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A self-motivated mindset with a drive for continuous learning and complex problem-solving.
• Fluency in English.

Preferred qualifications

• A Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
• Experience with firmware development using C or C++.
• Skills in scripting and automating electronic test equipment.
• Technical knowledge in areas such as battery management, RF communications, Bluetooth, antenna design, or mesh networking.
• A personal interest in HAM radio.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $110,000 to $140,000 per year, depending on your specific experience and background. In addition to base pay, we provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k plan, and equity compensation.
