At Alluxio, we are dedicated to revolutionizing how data is accessed and managed across cloud environments. Our mission is to build the world's most advanced open-source data orchestration layer, formerly known as Tachyon. By joining our team, you will help us solve some of the most complex challenges in distributed systems, such as creating efficient caching strategies, perfecting concurrency and locking mechanisms, and ensuring high availability for large-scale infrastructure.
The role
We are looking for a Distributed Systems Development Engineer to join us on a full-time, on-site basis in China. This is an entry-level position designed for students graduating in 2025. We invite you to bring your passion for engineering to a team that values innovation and technical excellence.
Core responsibilities
- Contribute to the ongoing development and architecture of the Alluxio system.
- Address complex distributed systems problems, including the optimization of concurrency and high-availability frameworks.
- Design and implement caching strategies that perform effectively within large-scale cloud environments.
Skills and experience
To succeed in this role, you should possess a strong academic foundation in computer science or a related field, with a preference for candidates pursuing a master's or doctoral degree. We require the following qualifications:
- Proficiency in at least one core programming language, such as Java, C++, or Go.
- A solid understanding of distributed system principles, RPC, and message middleware.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Excellent communication skills, a high sense of responsibility, and a natural ability to work well within a team.
- Fluency in Chinese and English is highly valued.
We consider it a significant plus if you have experience with open-source community contributions or hands-on work with systems like HDFS, Spark, Presto, Impala, Ceph, or Kubernetes. Familiarity with multithreading, asynchronous programming, and object-oriented design in Java is also strongly encouraged.
Compensation and benefits
We provide a collaborative environment where you can grow alongside industry experts. While we do not list specific salary figures, we offer the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that impacts global data infrastructure.
How to apply
If you are a motivated student ready to tackle the complexities of distributed systems, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application materials to our team to begin the interview process.
