We are looking for a Distributed System R&D Engineer to join our team in China. As a key member of the team, you will help build and evolve Alluxio, formerly known as Tachyon, by tackling complex challenges like optimizing concurrency, refining locking mechanisms, and developing high-availability strategies for large-scale cloud environments.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the core development of the Alluxio system.
- Design and implement robust caching strategies for cloud-native architectures.
- Optimize system performance through advanced concurrency and locking techniques.
- Build and maintain highly available distributed infrastructure.
Must-haves
- You are a 2025 graduate with a degree in Computer Science or a related field, with preference given to those holding a Master’s or PhD.
- Proficiency in at least one core programming language, such as Java, C++, or Go.
- Solid understanding of distributed system principles, RPC, and middleware.
- Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive learning mindset, and a strong sense of team collaboration.
- Fluency in Chinese.
Nice-to-haves
- Strong English communication skills.
- Previous experience contributing to open-source projects.
- Hands-on internship experience with distributed systems like Alluxio, HDFS, Spark, Presto, Impala, Ceph, or Kubernetes.
- Deep knowledge of Java object-oriented design, multi-threading, asynchronous programming, and concurrency.
