We are looking for a dedicated Distributed System R&D Engineer to join our team in China. At Alluxio, formerly known as Tachyon, we focus on building advanced infrastructure that addresses the most complex challenges in distributed computing. By joining us, you will work on developing large-scale cloud caching strategies, refining concurrency and locking mechanisms, and ensuring the high availability of our distributed systems.
Key outcomes
- Contribute to the ongoing development and architecture of the Alluxio system.
- Design and implement solutions for large-scale cloud caching environments.
- Optimize system performance through improved concurrency and locking strategies.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to maintain and enhance high-availability distributed infrastructure.
Requirements
- You are a 2025 graduate with a degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, with a preference for Master’s or PhD candidates.
- Proficiency in at least one core programming language, such as Java, C++, or Go.
- A solid understanding of distributed system principles, RPC frameworks, and message middleware.
- Strong knowledge of fundamental data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Excellent analytical skills, a passion for technology, and the ability to communicate effectively within a team.
- A high level of responsibility and a collaborative spirit.
Preferred qualifications
- Strong proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Previous experience contributing to open-source software projects.
- Practical experience developing or working with distributed systems like Alluxio, HDFS, Spark, Presto, Impala, Ceph, or Kubernetes.
- Deep familiarity with Java and object-oriented design, specifically regarding multithreading, asynchronous programming, and concurrent systems.
