We are looking for a dedicated Distributed System R&D Engineer to join our team in China on a full-time basis. Our company is the driving force behind Alluxio, formerly known as Tachyon. We focus on solving complex challenges within distributed systems, such as creating advanced caching strategies for large-scale cloud environments, refining concurrency and locking mechanisms, and building highly available infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for a student to contribute to a cutting-edge project and work alongside experts in the field.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the ongoing development and architectural improvement of the Alluxio system.
- Tackle difficult technical problems related to distributed computing, including the optimization of system performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with our engineering team to design and implement robust solutions for high-concurrency and large-scale data environments.
Requirements
- You must be a 2025 graduate with a degree in computer science or a related technical field, with a preference for master’s or doctoral candidates.
- Proficiency in at least one major programming language, such as Java, C++, or Go, is essential.
- A solid understanding of distributed system principles, RPC frameworks, and message middleware is required.
- You should have a strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- We value candidates who demonstrate a passion for technology, strong analytical skills, effective communication, and a commitment to teamwork.
- Bonus points for experience with open-source communities, familiarity with systems like HDFS, Spark, Presto, Impala, Ceph, or Kubernetes, and expertise in Java multi-threading and asynchronous programming.
What we offer
We provide a collaborative environment where you can grow your skills and make a real impact on distributed technology. We encourage our team members to take ownership of their work and participate in the broader open-source ecosystem. We are committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development for all our engineers.
