Are you ready to shape the future of digital experiences at a company that helps organizations deliver flawless performance across networks they don’t even own? At Cisco ThousandEyes, our AI-powered platform turns unmatched cloud, internet, and enterprise telemetry into proactive insights that keep end-users happy before problems ever surface.
What you bring
We are looking for a Distinguished Engineer to join our AI/ML team on a full-time, on-site basis in the United States. In this executive-level role you will guide model training, tuning, and evaluation for deep-learning, traditional machine-learning, and large-language-model systems while steering data collection, data engineering, and feature-engineering strategies. Your work will directly influence the Network Assurance Roadmap and the way our platform serves applications at internet scale.
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale AI/ML pipelines, including the tuning and evaluation of LLMs.
- Build robust evaluation frameworks and metrics that assess both transformer-based and traditional models.
- Translate ambiguous product challenges into clear AI/ML solutions that shape product direction and user experience.
This position is located in the United States and requires on-site collaboration.
Requirements
You bring at least 15 years of software-development experience and a minimum of five years building and evaluating machine-learning models that power large-scale production services. A PhD is preferred, yet we value proven impact above formal credentials. You are fluent in Python and comfortable with SKLearn, XGBoost, PyTorch, or TensorFlow, and you have hands-on expertise with neural networks, transformer architectures, large language models, decision trees, and other classical techniques. You excel at orchestrating cross-functional teams of researchers, data scientists, and infrastructure engineers, and you have a track record of turning conceptual ideas into reliable, internet-scale solutions. Strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and a collaborative mindset round out the profile of the colleague we seek.
What we offer
The salary range for this role is 247800 USD to 371500 USD. In addition to competitive pay, we provide a 401(k) plan with Cisco matching contributions, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability coverage, generous paid time off including up to twelve holidays and a floating holiday plus a day off for your birthday, additional paid volunteer time, and the opportunity to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program. We also support ongoing professional development to help you grow your career.
How to Apply
If this opportunity excites you, we encourage you to apply even if your experience does not align perfectly with every qualification. We review every application thoughtfully and look forward to learning how your unique perspective can contribute to our mission.
