Director, Solutions & Forward Deployed Engineering at Zushealth

Zus is a shared health data platform founded in 2021 by Jonathan Bush, the former CEO of athenahealth. Our mission is to accelerate healthcare data interoperability by providing accessible patient data through APIs, direct EHR integrations, and embedded components. We partner with health information exchanges and data networks to aggregate clinical history, translating it into actionable information at the point of care. We are looking for a Director, Solutions & Forward Deployed Engineering to lead our technical delivery efforts and ensure our customers successfully integrate their systems with our platform.

Key outcomes

• Own the full technical delivery lifecycle, from the signing of a contract through to production deployment and early adoption.
• Lead, mentor, and scale a team of Solutions Engineers and Forward Deployed Engineers by establishing clear career paths and performance expectations.
• Ensure consistent, high-quality execution across multiple concurrent enterprise implementations while driving rapid time-to-value for our clients.
• Act as a player-coach by personally managing complex deployments, troubleshooting data pipeline issues, and serving as a trusted technical advisor.
• Drive the adoption of AI-enabled implementation and automation frameworks to reduce manual work and accelerate integration timelines.
• Develop reference architectures and reusable integration patterns that help customers build production-grade applications on our APIs.
• Partner with our internal Product and Engineering teams to translate real-world customer needs into platform improvements.
• Oversee technical enablement programs, including workshops and documentation, to ensure customer teams are equipped to succeed on our platform.

Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in technical implementation, solutions engineering, or professional services leadership within the healthtech or SaaS sectors.
• Proven track record of leading customer-facing teams and scaling delivery organizations.
• Deep technical expertise in healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR, HL7, and CCD, as well as EHR integrations.
• Strong proficiency with APIs, data ingestion pipelines, ETL processes, and modern data platforms like Snowflake.
• Solid understanding of compliance frameworks, particularly HIPAA.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, maintaining executive presence.
• A self-starter mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for customer engagements and company meetings.
