The opportunity

As Director of Software Engineering you will shape both the technical direction and the culture of a multi-disciplinary group that builds production AI systems. You will work closely with product, research, and sales leadership to translate strategic goals into roadmaps, while ensuring every release meets the highest standards of reliability and performance. In short, you will turn ambitious ideas into dependable capabilities that customers count on when the stakes are highest.

A day in the life

• Partnering with cross-functional colleagues to refine the technology roadmap and remove obstacles so the team can deliver on time and at scale.
• Coaching data scientists and engineers through architecture reviews, technical mentoring sessions, and hiring conversations that strengthen the group’s collective expertise.
• Representing the team’s work to customers and stakeholders, translating complex machine-learning concepts into clear narratives that guide business decisions.

Who you are

You hold an M.Sc. or equivalent advanced degree in computer science, statistics, computational linguistics, or another quantitative discipline. You have built and shipped data-driven, algorithm-heavy products, and you bring direct experience leading teams of both data scientists and software engineers. You are fluent in machine learning with a focus on natural language processing, and you have worked with distributed systems on AWS or Azure, the Elastic stack, and Kubernetes. Clear communication comes naturally to you; you can explain technical trade-offs to non-technical partners and business priorities to engineers with equal ease. You have a track record of hiring, mentoring, and elevating high-performing teams, and you are energized by the challenge of pushing machine-learning applications toward state-of-the-art results.

The annual cash compensation range for this position is US$245,000 to US$295,000.
