Director, Software Engineering at Xometry

Our digital marketplace provides manufacturers with the essential resources they need to scale their businesses, while simultaneously offering buyers at Fortune 1000 companies seamless access to global manufacturing capacity. We are currently looking for a Director of Software Engineering to join our team in a full-time, hybrid capacity within the United States.

In this role, you will oversee the teams responsible for building the core customer quoting experience on our website. You will be tasked with driving our technology solutions to ensure we continue to deliver reliable, high-performance, and secure systems that solve complex business challenges.

Key outcomes

• Lead and nurture the growth of our software engineering team, including recruiting and developing high-caliber talent across North and South America.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership by actively participating in coding and troubleshooting while managing project timelines and team dynamics.
• Ensure the delivery of superior software that meets or exceeds customer expectations while remaining aligned with strategic business goals.
• Build strong partnerships with product managers, designers, and leadership to foster a culture of open communication and integrated teamwork.
• Champion the adoption of innovative technologies and methodologies to improve problem-solving efficiency across the organization.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of professional experience in software development.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience leading software development teams in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.
• Proven experience managing other managers or team leads across multiple squads.
• Strong technical proficiency in Python, frontend technologies like React and TypeScript, cloud services such as AWS, and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels, from individual contributors to executive leadership.
• Must be a United States citizen or a Green Card holder.

Preferred qualifications

• Direct experience working with marketplace products is highly desirable.
