Director, Product Design & User Research at RapidSOS

We are an intelligent safety company dedicated to building a safer future by fusing life-saving data from over 540 million connected devices, apps, and sensors. By connecting this information to more than 21,000 public safety agencies across six countries, we ensure that critical data reaches the right people during an emergency. We are currently in an exciting phase of growth and are looking for a Director, Product Design & User Research to join our mission-driven team. Key outcomes

• Lead and mentor a team of 2-3 designers and researchers, fostering a collaborative environment focused on professional growth.
• Oversee comprehensive user research initiatives, translating complex customer needs into actionable product strategies.
• Direct the creation of intuitive, modern web interfaces that meet high standards for usability, accessibility, and scalability.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and product management teams to integrate user-centered design into the entire product development lifecycle.
• Champion design principles across the organization and communicate research insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of professional experience in product design or user research, including 3 years in a leadership capacity.
• Strong proficiency in modern web design principles and a hands-on approach to both design and research disciplines.
• Expertise in using industry-standard design software and usability testing platforms.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to advocate for design priorities and research-backed decisions.
• Proven success in managing cross-functional relationships and mentoring team members.
• Full professional proficiency in English.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience designing solutions for critical systems such as emergency response, public safety, or air traffic control.
• A strong background in designing AI-powered solutions.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• A portfolio that highlights impactful design solutions and clear research outcomes.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $200,000 to $220,000. In addition to base pay, this role includes equity compensation. We also support a healthy work-life balance through remote work flexibility and flexible hours.
