Director, Product - Carbon at Mast Reforestation

The opportunity

We are looking for a visionary Director of Product for Carbon to join our executive team. This is a chance to pioneer the development of carbon removal credits from nature-based systems. You will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between the human economy and the natural economy of ecosystem services. Your primary mission will be to expand the commercial value of our carbon removal offerings, ensuring that our products not only meet the highest environmental standards but also achieve strong market fit. You will report directly to our CEO and work closely with our executive leadership to drive our long-term strategy and report progress to our board of directors.

A day in the life

• Lead a cross-functional team of scientists, finance experts, and sales professionals to design and launch innovative, nature-based carbon removal products that respond directly to buyer feedback.
• Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from initial research and discovery to the execution of pilot projects, ensuring we deliver high-quality, ex-post credits to the market.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external regulatory experts to navigate compliance standards, ensuring our projects in the western 11 states remain at the forefront of the industry.

Who you are

You are a seasoned leader with a deep background in both product development and carbon markets. You understand how to translate complex policy signals and certification standards into concrete business objectives. You are comfortable engaging with major registries like Verra, Climate Action Reserve, and Puro.earth, and you keep a close eye on the evolution of organizations like SBTI and ICVCM. Your background includes:

• At least 7 years of experience in product development and 6 years specifically within carbon markets.
• Proven knowledge of at least two carbon certification standards for reforestation or related projects.
• 5 or more years of experience in people management, with a talent for coaching teams and rallying diverse stakeholders toward a shared vision.
• An MSc degree or equivalent knowledge in a relevant field such as forestry, ecology, or environmental management.
• Strong strategic planning skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to a variety of audiences.
