Director Platform/Backend Engineering at Balbix

We are currently looking for a Director of Platform/Backend Engineering to join our team in India on a full-time, on-site basis.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end architecture, design, and delivery of our backend and API platform while establishing a clear technical vision.
• Build and mentor a high-performing, cross-functional team of engineers focused on delivering robust distributed applications.
• Define and implement engineering best practices that foster innovation, improve developer productivity, and balance long-term project goals with urgent customer requirements.

Requirements

To succeed in this executive role, you should possess a strong background in software development and leadership. We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

• A degree in Computer Science, such as a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD.
• At least 12 years of software development experience, with a minimum of 5 years dedicated to platform or framework development.
• Over 5 years of experience managing distributed development teams and building complex, data-driven applications for customers.
• Extensive expertise in designing and scaling complex distributed systems.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Java, C++, Go, Rust, or Python.
• A proven track record of setting up effective development processes and collaborating with product managers to define roadmaps.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity while mentoring senior and principal engineers.
