Director, Platform Engineering - Data / AI at C3 AI

What is this role?

We are seeking a Director of Platform Engineering to focus on our Data and AI infrastructure. This is a full-time, on-site position based in the United States. As a director-level leader, you will guide our development teams within the platform department. This is a highly visible role where you will interact frequently with senior leadership to shape our product roadmap and define our strategic goals.

What will you do?

• Lead and mentor a team of skilled platform engineers who are responsible for building and maintaining our core data infrastructure.
• Set the strategic vision and roadmap for our data and AI initiatives to ensure they align with our broader business objectives.
• Architect robust, scalable systems that support our organization's data-driven goals while ensuring high reliability and performance through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting.

What makes you a great fit?

You should have a strong technical background and a passion for building complex systems. We are looking for someone who brings the following qualifications to the table:

• Over 12 years of experience in software companies, specifically within distributed systems, data infrastructure, or AI/ML platforms.
• At least 6 years of experience in a leadership role managing highly technical teams.
• Deep expertise in data engineering, machine learning, statistics, and AI technologies.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java or Python.
• A solid understanding of agile software development, distributed systems, and software design.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
