About the Role
Magrathea is seeking an innovative, creative, and hard working Director of Technology to support the CTO in managing Magrathea's R&D program. Our innovative talent is one of the biggest drivers in our success, and talented people don’t always fit with rigid job descriptions or day-to-day responsibilities. However, we want to be transparent about what will be expected of this role. The Director of Technology will be a key player in the scale-up and design of our revolutionary electrolytic process technology.
Role Expectations

Lead the ideation, creation, and execution of R&D projects (government and internal) to improve Magrathea’s technology

Direct the team responsible for operation of a metal production pilot line, providing technical guidance and solutions

Oversee and the analytical lab and provide first-hand support on analytical technique development

Work closely with the Director of Engineering to scale up Magrathea’s technology and produce data necessary for the demo

Project management of the R&D team, ensuring that insights, work products and data are ready for relevant deadlines
Ideal Background
- MS or PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering or adjacent field
- Experience with inorganic chemistry and pilot plant operations
- Experience managing a research and/or pilot team including project management of technical projects
- Experience with analytical techniques such as ICP-OES, titrations, TGA, dissolved organic measurements, calibrations, and other aqueous analytical
- Creative and open-minded with the ability to rapidly learn
- Demonstrated track record of working on a team to achieve audacious goals together
- History of promoting company culture based on humility, transparency, respect, and care for the success of other team members
Compensation
- Salary range: $100-$170k annually (commensurate with experience)
