The opportunity

As our Director of Software Engineering, you will serve as a builder for our builders. We are moving away from the decaying technology of legacy banking and constructing new, robust experiences from the ground up. In this executive role, you will empower our engineering teams to create innovative wealth-building tools, ensuring they have the support and vision needed to deliver exceptional experiences to our customers. You will act as a bridge between technical strategy and product execution, helping us scale our systems while maintaining the high standards our community expects.

A day in the life

• You will mentor and grow individual contributors and engineering managers, fostering their professional development while ensuring our teams remain productive and engaged.
• You will lead foundational, multi-discipline teams through complex, full-stack projects, driving the strategy for how we test, validate, and safely deploy new features across our web and mobile applications.
• You will collaborate closely with product, design, legal, and customer support departments to ensure our technical roadmap aligns with our broader mission and user needs.

Who you are

You are a seasoned leader with a passion for building high-growth systems. You thrive in environments where collaboration is key and you possess the ability to align cross-functional teams toward a common goal. Because our platform serves a diverse Canadian audience, fluency in English is required.

Key qualifications include:

• At least 10 years of experience in software engineering, including 5 years in leadership roles and 2 years managing other leads.
• A proven track record of scaling teams and technical systems in fast-paced environments.
• Familiarity with modern tech stacks, such as Node.js, TypeScript, React Native, Postgres, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, and Datadog, is highly valued.
• Previous experience building financial applications or a strong interest in Bitcoin is considered a significant asset.
