What you bring

As our Director of Security Engineering, you will serve as a pivotal member of our Engineering Leadership team. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in the United States that requires deep expertise in cloud security, data privacy, and team leadership. You will work closely with our VP of Engineering to foster a culture of excellence and high-velocity delivery while guiding our overall security posture. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Partnering with executive leadership to define and execute a security strategy that aligns with our business goals and risk management standards.
• Leading and mentoring our Security Engineering team while collaborating across the organization to maintain robust security practices.
• Acting as the primary external point of contact for security inquiries and working with our GTM teams to champion Render’s security excellence in the broader market.

Requirements

We are looking for a seasoned leader who possesses at least 10 years of experience in computer science and security, including a minimum of 3 years in a Director-level role. You should have a proven track record of managing security teams that handle on-call duties and guiding organizations through complex compliance implementations. Mastery of cloud security and data privacy is essential for this position. We value candidates who communicate with clarity in English and demonstrate high integrity, humility, and a collaborative spirit. While not required, experience engaging with enterprise customers alongside sales teams is a significant asset, as is being located near our San Francisco Bay Area headquarters.

What we offer
